Teacher - Hassan Saeed
My name is Hassan Saeed and I was born and raised in a small city of Pakistan known as Peshawar. Currently I am 21 years old and working toward a degree in Bsc (Hons) Social Sciences from Institute of Management Sciences, Peshawar.
In 2008, I was selected to take part in a student exchange program in the USA and stayed in Kansas with a host family. I had an excellent school year and returned home in 2009.
After returning home, I began volunteering with the local Alumni Association on numerous youth, education, and flood relief projects. Currently, I work for iEARN-Pakistn as Youth Programs Coordinator.
I met Gayle Kimball on the Internet as one of her respondents for the Global Youth Book. She initiated this literacy program after reading my interview with an illiterate villager in order to make a better life possible for these villagers. I'd like to take this opportunity to extend my thanks to her for all that she did and all she is doing. She has been a great friend.
A 2013 update:
My full name is Hafiz Hassan Saeed. Born and raised in Peshawar. Was an exchange student from Pakistan on Youth Exchange and Study Program (full expense paid) for a year placed in Topeka, Kansas during 2008-09. Earned myself the President's signed certificate and award for completing 100 hours of community service. Returned to Pakistan in 2009 and started working as a YES Alumni doing various community services; helping orphanages, building libraries, answering to natural disasters like earthquake and floods. Worked with British Council for six months as Country Coordinator for ILM Foundation. In May 2012, I was hired by iEARN-Pakistan as Youth Programs Coordinator and I still hold the position. I went to U.S in September 2012 as escort with the new YES Students. I was also selected to represent YES Program at Training of Trainers Workshop in Indonesia from January 30 - February 5th 2013. As for studies, I am currently enrolled at Institute of Management Sciences, Peshawar. Doing Bsc. Social Sciences. This is my third semester. My GPA after the initial two semesters is 3.95.
